What visual problem do you come to Oftalvist with?
I go to Oftalvist in the emergency room due to a sudden loss of vision in my left eye. One day when I get up and watch TV I notice that I can't distinguish the images. On the street on the way to the clinic, even the buildings and traffic signs appear distorted to me. It gives me the feeling like looking underwater.
What prevents you from performing your ocular pathology in your day to day and how does it affect you?
It does not affect me in any way as long as I receive the treatment.
What do they ask you at the Oftalvist center where you go to improve your visual health?
After performing an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in the first consultation, the specialist informed me that I have macular degeneration in both eyes. In the left eye of the wet type and in the right of the dry type, with incipient cataracts. She informs me that to this day the dry type cannot be treated, however the wet type can be inactivated by intravitreal injections that must be performed in the operating room. As of today I have had approximately 20 injections since 2009.
How is the experience in the operating room?
Positive. Every time I go in it seems very short and I don't have any pain. I'm going home on my own. Thanks to this I maintain my vision.
And the postoperative period?
Perfect, I follow the instructions of my doctor, in addition to resting at home the same day of the operating room.
Finally, what can you do now, that you couldn't do before, in your day to day?
