What visual problem do you come to Oftalvist with?
I found out about the Oftalvist clinic in the first place because I have cataract surgery in both eyes with a monofocal lens, that is, with correction for distance vision. I have also had diabetes for many years and I began to see black lines in my right eye that prevented me from seeing clearly despite having cataract surgery.
At first I thought it was a retinal detachment, but the specialist confirmed that it was a vitreous tear caused by diabetes.
What prevents you from performing your ocular pathology in your day to day and how does it affect you?
The total reduction of vision. She saw everything blurry.
What do they ask you at the Oftalvist center where you go to improve your visual health?
They proposed a posterior pole vitrectomy for vitreous hemorrhage.
How is the experience in the operating room?
It seems a bit long but everything is very good, with the feeling of being very well cared for. The main purpose of the intervention was the complete cleaning of the vitreous by means of a gas and laser application. I did not have any sensation of pain at any time. I am very happy with the medical part and the humane treatment.
And the postoperative period?
Rest for about a month and drops in the eye. Vision gradually recovers between the first 6 and 12 months.
Do you follow any medical indications after surgery?
The recommendation was not to do sudden physical exercises for at least one month.
Finally, what can you do now, that you couldn't do before, in your day to day?
I have recovered 100% of my vision. Now I can do everything without glasses and without seeing black spots or blurry objects or shapes. However, I still need near glasses to read since in my last cataract surgery I asked for a monofocal lens and that is why I have only been able to correct my distance vision.
