Cataract surgery with femtosecond laser and monofocal lens. "I can now read paper and electronic books without needing my thick organic glasses, that I no longer need to use for anything" |
With what visual problem do you arrive at Oftalvist?
Since I had been undergoing regular check-ups at Oftalvist due to the bilateral angle-closure glaucoma that I was presenting, they detected cataracts.
What prevents you from performing your ocular pathology in your day to day and how does it affect you?
In addition to needing glasses from my youth, bifocals at the beginning and progressive ones in recent years with absolute dependence on both distance and near, due to the high prescriptions, the cataracts also represented a thick curtain that increased the lack of vision.
What do they ask you at the Oftalvist center where you go to improve your visual health?
Of course control eye strain and proceed with femtosecond laser cataract surgery with monofocal intraocular lens implant.
How is the experience in the operating room?
Although it is not at all desirable to go through an operating room, to be honest, I must express my deep satisfaction for placing my trust in someone who has proven to deserve it. The doctor who operated on me, faced with complications attributable to my pathology, with a rigorous and deep knowledge of the fact and an exquisite personal and professional preparation of the doctor, managed to overcome all the difficulties satisfactorily in the intervention. Obviously, the surgical result obtained is not only the task of the specialist, but also of the auxiliary healthcare team. Also highlight the guarantee of careful patient care, as much as I myself warned, as well as another member of my family.
And the postoperative period?
Scheduled, like the preoperative, without any complications. Totally normal life with minimal limitations.
Do you follow any medical indications after surgery?
I do not need any medication, nor take any special indication into account.
Finally, what can you do now, that you couldn't do before, in your day to day?
Having an intraocular lens, replacing the opacified lens or cataract, new, clean and sharp that compensates for my visual deficiencies. Now I can read books on paper and electronically, forgetting about my thick glass organic glasses that I no longer use at all. Of course, I need sunglasses (without prescription) to care for the new lens.
